A lot of people look at Picasso’s paintings and think:
“A kid could have done that.”
What is this guy doing?
The painting looks so easy that a kid could have done it. It’s so non-traditional that it doesn’t even look good.
But you have to understand:
Picasso was not a kid when he painted these.
To paint those types of paintings, you kind of have to become a kid again.
You have to go into the frame of mind of someone playful. Someone exploring.
And you have to break out of the bounds of whatever painting style is popular at the time.
Picasso had to do that.
He had to break out of those rules, go into the mind of a kid, and paint that way.
And I find that admirable.
You kind of need to do the same with everything you do.
I’ll give you an example.
I make landing pages a lot, and I do a lot of things that break what most pages look like.
I’ll add weird elements.
I’ll add fun things where you click a button and it does something.
It’s not necessarily supposed to be there, but it makes the page better.
A lot of people won’t add stuff like that.
And that’s why my pages are better than a lot of people’s.
And yeah, sometimes I go overboard.
Sometimes it goes too far.
But most of the time, I end up with something people cannot replicate.
You need to do the same with outreach.
You need to do the same with your copy.
You need to do the same with marketing.
Even with how you become productive.
If you’re not productive and you’ve tried all the usual ways, then maybe the problem is not you.
Maybe the problem is the usual ways.
So try an unusual way.
Step into the mind of someone who would be productive.
Maybe, who knows, step into the mind of a cow.
They’re productive 24/7 eating grass.
Think about it.
Why do cows eat grass?
What motivates them?
Eventually, you’ll get to being productive.
