Hey {{first_name|bro}},
This afternoon, I went to get some stamps.
It was a long walk over there so by the time I got to the post office, my next stop was the grocery store since I was practically dying of thirst.
At first, I tried to avoid any human interaction and just go for a stamp machine but lucky me, it didn’t take cash.
So I wobbled up to the register and almost forgot the word “stamp” because my mind blanked.
After I was done looking like an idiot, the lady asked me how many stamps I wanted. I asked for $5 worth and she said…
“we only sell them for groups of $15.60”
$15.60 ?!
I’d only come with $15 and I was about to die from thirst, so I needed at least $3 to SURVIVE…
So, I called on my skills of persuasion.
AKA now it’s time to look like a brokie that doesn’t even have $15.60
The next words that came out of my mouth could only be described as psychological manipulation—I was using every trick in the book to score some typa discount or something.
And eventually… I did it.
I’d saved myself a whopping 9 dollars and 36 cents.
As I was walking out of vons proud that I’d saved my life (with a diet coke), I realized something interesting…
I just wrote copy out loud.
Why does that matter?
Well, it means that instead of avoiding every single convo possible (like I used to)... I’m now going to take every chance I get to interact, and you should too.
You see, we’re all at home cooped up writing emails, but we never actually talk to another person.
And that’s what makes a good copy great.
The human touch. The conversational tone. The impression is that you’re not just reading words, someone is actually speaking to you.
Because with all the AI and swipe copycats nowadays, it’s more important than ever.
So here’s my challenge to you: Stop staying inside, go and talk to someone.
Peace.
