well he actually responded and now here’s my reply to that:
“I get your point but a bunch of nomads wouldn't know they're in a bad geographical location and would have beef with other countries later down the line before building out a city there.
Just shit circumstances and other things but it started out well at least as the founding fathers here were in pretty rough positions and still made it through, even if it was luck.
Same with tourism, I got friends with family businesses in the desert that run mainly on tourism.
I got no reason to defend Dubai in the present other than the fact that I live here but I do agree with the oil thing.

dubai isn’t a group of nomads and i told dubai to buy land not steal it.
just because you can do tourism doesn’t mean you should… america is a great place to start a country it’s got animals tons of free land etc. etc. all you gotta deal with is the natives
but who cares anyway, america is a thing… and so is dubai
this debate isn’t about whether or not dubai is a bad idea or not. im making the point that sometimes, you don’t have to just “deal” with your circumstances
in fact sometimes you really shouldn’t
if people just dealt with their circumstances we wouldn’t have america, the greatest nation on earth
we wouldn’t have the lightbulb
we wouldn’t have the internet
sometimes, your circumstance isn’t that you have to relay all knowledge through speech because you can write a book
no one ever adapted to anything by accepting only their circumstances.
so lock in and dont accept everything
