You know those people with designer white shoes?
They’re so uptight about them.
I’m going to explain why that mindset can completely ruin your copywriting career and your chances of making money online.
Understand this:
Those people didn’t buy the shoes to wear them.
They bought them to look nice.
So when they actually wear them, they avoid everything.
They don’t step in mud.
They avoid grass.
They avoid dirty sidewalks.
Anything that could get their shoes dirty.
But here’s what happens over time.
They keep avoiding all these paths.
Mud. Grass. Sidewalks. Life.
And then one day…
They’re at a restaurant, and someone spills wine on their shoes.
Or they drop coffee on them.
And now the shoes are dirty anyway.
So they avoided all those paths for nothing.
And it’s the same thing with outreach.
A lot of people get into copywriting not to work.
That’s like buying shoes not to wear.
It doesn’t make any sense.
These people don’t want to do outreach.
Now, nobody wants to do outreach.
But these people avoid it.
They intentionally avoid doing it.
What they’re really avoiding is work.
So they keep avoiding it.
And avoiding it.
And they never do outreach.
Until one day…
They’re broke.
They haven’t made any money.
So they go get a job.
And what do they do at that job?
They work.
And not only do they work…
They work harder.
And longer.
Than they would have if they just did outreach.
So the moral of the story is this:
Don’t avoid certain paths just because of what’s on them.
Because eventually…
You’re going to face that same thing anyway.
That mud.
That work.
That outreach.
And when you do…
You’re going to regret not taking those paths earlier.
