Everyone’s asleep…

And I’m doing outreach.

Right here in this chair…

I told myself…

“One more outreach, then I’ll go to bed.”

And I know that’s cliché but…

This one actually did.

“Hey bro, I made this email for you, let me know what you think.”

5 mins later…

*sigh*

I guess it’s time to sleep.

As I shut my eyes…

It couldn’t be…

“Yo this is really good, who else have you done this for?”

OH SH*T

I hopped out of bed and… (here’s the sauce)

sent him my portfolio.

Now you’re probably thinking… 

“What’s so special about that?”

Back then…

I’d never written for a single client in my life.

But my portfolio?

Robert basicman… Joe Smoe… and Coca-Cola?!

“Wait? You wrote for Coca-Cola?”

"Yeah, I wrote for Coca-Cola"

5 min go by…

then 10…

then a whole hour.

“Sick, how much do you charge?”

and I’ll tell you what happened in a sec…

But here’s the sauce:

Did I lie?

no…

Did I write for Coca-Cola?

yes…

Did I work for them?

Not really…

So next time your client asks, can I see some of your work?

Send em’ a portfolio with people who impress them.

But don’t say Coca-Cola lol.

And NEVER send your work in a Google Doc.

You need to look professional.

At least if you actually want a client.
