Beehiiv Veteran Reveals…
How ANYONE (Even Brand Spankin’ New Copywriters) Can Make A Killer Website That Gets Attention, Impresses Leads, And FORCES People To Sign Up To Your List
Without Complicated Set up Or Annoying Jargon
So, you want to write a killer website, eh?
Well, you’re in luck, because I’ve had the pleasure of writing my newsletter for around half a year now…
and throughout that time, I’ve used a basic template for my website that converts like crazy.
Here we go…
THE NEWSLETTER WEBSITE TEMPLATE + EXPLANATION:
Most newsletters are written by people who can write.
But their websites?
That’s another story.
If your site sounds like a résumé or a pitch deck, you’re losing readers before they ever meet your words. This isn’t your fault — most advice out there treats your newsletter website like a landing page.
It’s not.It’s a handshake.A good newsletter site doesn’t sell.It invites.
This guide will show you exactly how to write a site that feels like your emails — and gets people to actually click “subscribe.”
STEP 1: LEAD WITH A FEELING, NOT A FEATURE
People don’t subscribe because they “need your insights.”
They subscribe because they want to feel something.Your headline is your vibe check. It’s the moment they decide if your energy matches theirs.Forget clever.Forget keyword stuffing.Just tell them what they’ll feel reading your newsletter.
Examples:
Emails that make you think — and actually enjoy reading.
Marketing for people who hate marketing. The only newsletter that doesn’t waste your time.
Formula:[Emotion / Vibe] + [Your Topic or Lens]
Example:
Blunt, honest writing advice from someone who actually writes.
STEP 2: WRITE A SUBHEAD THAT MAKES THEM NOD
Your subhead is where you earn trust.Explain who it’s for and why it’s different — but keep it conversational.
Bad:“A weekly newsletter helping creators build an authentic online presence through storytelling frameworks.”
Better:“One email a week on writing stuff people actually want to read. No cringe. No bro quotes. Just real talk.”
Formula:“You’ll get [X] — without [Y].”Example: “Smart growth ideas without the LinkedIn buzzwords.”
STEP 3: USE BODY COPY THAT FEELS LIKE YOUR NEWSLETTER
Most people copy-paste a generic blurb here.
Don’t.Your site should sound exactly like your emails. If you’re funny, be funny. If you’re blunt, be blunt. If you’re deep, be deep.
You’re not trying to prove credibility — you’re giving a taste of your vibe.
Example:“Every week, I share what’s working, what’s failing, and how to make your writing sharper. Think of it like creative caffeine — short, real, and slightly addictive.”
Rule: If it wouldn’t fit in your email, it doesn’t belong on your website.
STEP 4: ADD A PROOF LINE (SOCIAL OR PERSONAL)
One line is enough.
Either show your credibility or show you care.
Examples:“Read by 2,000+ freelancers and founders who hate fluff.”
“I write this for myself first — and somehow 3,000 people keep reading it.”
“If this isn’t the best email you get all week, unsubscribe.
No hard feelings.”Authenticity beats stats every time.
STEP 5: NAIL THE CALL TO ACTION
People don’t click buttons because of logic.
They click because they want to feel included.Don’t say “Subscribe to the newsletter.”
Say what’s in it for them.
Examples:“Join 3,000+ people who actually read their emails.”
“Get smarter every Monday. No spam, no cringe.”“Hit the button. See what happens.”
Formula:[Join/Sign up] + [Result or Vibe] + [Reassurance if needed]
STEP 6: MAKE IT STUPIDLY EASY TO SIGN UP
One box.
One button.
That’s it.
If you’re using Beehiiv — keep the signup visible above the fold.
No scrolling required. And please, no “First Name / Last Name / Company / Blood Type” forms.
You’re not onboarding a SaaS user. You’re inviting a reader.
STEP 7: CHECK THE VIBE
Before you publish, ask yourself:
Does this sound like me?
Would I actually subscribe to this?
Is it interesting before it’s impressive?
If you can say yes to all three, you’re done.
QUICK CHECKLIST
✅ Headline makes you feel something
✅ Subhead explains value + vibe
✅ Body sounds like your actual newsletter
✅ Proof line adds trust or personality
✅ CTA feels human
✅ Signup form is stupid simpleIf you hit all six, your site is already better than 90% of newsletter pages out there.
WRAP-UP
You don’t need a design overhaul or another “growth strategy.”
You need words that hit.
Your website is the front door to your newsletter.
Make it sound like you.Make it feel like an email they want to open.
Now go fix that homepage.
Good luck bro,
