(Spoilers kinda for breaking bad)

Ya know, I think it’s something like 99% of copywriters quit in their first month.

But I’m still here, grinding away long beyond my first month.

There was a time, though, when I really did want to throw it all away and just go back to fucking off all day.

I was in my learning phase and I was SICK of seeing a stupid google doc everyday. I started copywriting to make money… to change my life… not to be stuck writing shitty emails everyday.

Long story short: I kept learning… and learning… and learning.

Until one day I was better.

Ever since then my copywriting has only gone up, and I’ve never thought about quitting.

And it reminds me of a scene outta breaking bad.

This is one of the last episodes, and Walter’s got caught now (or whatever happened I fogot) but basically he says one last goodbye to Skyler (his wife).

This is the transcript:

Skyler White: If I have to hear one more time that you did this for the family...

Walter White: I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And... I was really... I was alive.

THAT’S why you should stay in copywriting.

Not because you want the big yacht… or the hot girls or whatever Andrew Tate told you to want.

Because you’re good.

Because you’re one of the best.

I get it if you’re not there yet (I’m by no means the best) but I’m telling you, once you start getting better at copywriting… even if it’s just a bit… you’ll start to like it.

And once you like it, you won’t want to quit.

So keep going, even if it’s hard.

John

P.S. Another big reason copywriters quit is outreach.

And I don’t blame them… it sucks.

That’s why I quit outreach now I just let the clients come to me instead. All I’m gonna do is hop on a few podcasts, and the clients will start pouring in.

Now, you might be a bit of a whuss. And that’s fine. You don’t need clients.

But if you’re not afraid of hearing your own voice on a few famous podcast shows, you might want to take a look at this funny little page:
