Hey did you see that the last season of Stranger Things dropped?

Of course you did.

Why else would you click on this email?

Even if you’ve never watched the show, it’s nearly impossible to get away from those red glowy letters.

Now, to be fair, it is just a good show, and a lot of people like it.

So I’m not going to talk about how stranger things was (and is) so successful… what I’d rather talk about is the massive ad circle jerk going on right now.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the Stranger Things google ad

(This one V)

But this ad is basically a really good circle jerk.

Here’s the deal:

First off, Google is capitalizing on the huge popularity that Stranger Things has brought up right now.

What they’re doing is trying to attach their brand (and more specifically the new AI model not many people know about and don’t fully trust) with something most people already like… Stranger Things.

Then, everyone likes (or at least trusts) Google so Stranger Things is getting that extra bit of cred… Maybe a few more thousand people watch it (and they showed clips, so that might get people to watch as well).

THEN… Netflix is capitalizing off both Google and Stranger Things because… well, it’s pretty obvious why.

So anyways, I thought the play by Google was very interesting here.

We’re currently in an AI race and whichever AI gets used the most could end up becoming the best… most profitable… etc. etc.

This ad was an extremely well-played move by Google.

Don’t forget the power of attaching yourself (or your client’s brand) to something big going on, something credible, something everyone likes etc. etc.

One ad like this could change your whole brand if done right.

Who knows this could make Google trillions in the future.

Let’s see.
