If you couldn’t tell by the SL, today we’re talking about bad SLs.

But before I get into what not to do, I want to tell you that your SL doesn’t actually matter.

(and I know I’ve already talked about this before)…

80% of your SL is the sender name.

So that’s why you have to build alot of trust and actually write good emails to get your emails opened.

But once you’ve done that, DON’T write complicated SLs.

I mean, it’s pretty simple—if you want people to open your email, then they need to be able to actually see the SL to open it.

So make sure your SL is extremely easy to read.

If you’ve got a choice between an intriguing SL and a readable one… choose the readable one.

Another thing, actually talk about what’s going on in the email.

Like for example, in the SL of this email that I made bad on purpose, I talked about legal codes of toilets.

Now obviously I’m not going to talk about that and you guys understand why.

But if you’re writing SLs that are super intriguing but have nothing to do with the email you’re writing… your email is going to do bad.

I mean, you’re killing two dogs with one stone.

On one hand, puppy number one is your sender trust from your readers… it’s getting killed.

On the other hand, puppy number two is how your email actually does… again, it’s getting killed.

So save the puppies and write a good SL.
