Hey {{first_name|bro}},
Imagine you booked an Airbnb.
You arrive, you’re tired, and you just want to take a shower and go to sleep.
So you hop in, turn on the water, and reach for the soap.
You start cleaning your face, then you notice something… a pubic hair in your mouth.
And that pubic hair?
It’s not yours.
Same thing when you’re doing outreach.
Everything could be PERFECT. The offer’s great, the clients’ eager to get started and you’ve even got a 50% upfront, 50% when the job’s done deal.
but then you get on the call…
Suddenly, when it’s time to do the payment, that so-called “perfect client” blurts out that he actually wants to pay ¼ up front instead of 50%.
Most people would be like me in the shower.
There’s water going in there eyes, there’s music playing, you’re tired—there’s no way you’re going to notice that loose pubic hair in the soap.
And you know what?
The client knows you’re not going to say anything. He thinks you’re just some yes-man noobie copywriter begging for a client.
And maybe you are.
Maybe you’re going to get left with someone else pubic hair on your tongue.
Because that’s what always happens if you don’t notice the pubic hairs ahead of time.
Moral of the story:
Don’t get distracted and take some shitty deal with a crappy client because you’re so hung up on a measly $50.
You, my friend, are a good copywriter.
I know you are because you read my emails. So don’t take crap from clients.
They need you, not the other way around.
Look out for the pubic hairs.
Peace
—John
