just learned a new word and thought I’d write an email about it:
Borborygmus.
It’s basically rumbling from your stomach.
Don’t you know when you’re hungry and your stomach starts making noises?
That’s borborygmus.
Come to think of it, my ears are plagued with borborygmus everyday.
No, I don't hang out with starving people, it’s all these copywriters who are so desperate for just one client they’d almost suck a dick.
And I'm not the only one who hears this borborygmus from copywriters… its prospects as well.
Bad news is if you’re infected with this plague, every time someone opens your email or sees your loom video, they’re probably hit with deafening waves of borborygmus because people see you’re desperate.
Maybe you’re giving out free value to anyone, maybe you’re revealing your prices on the DM’s, maybe you’re immediately offering to work for free when they say no.
Whatever it is, they see through all your fancy promises and industry jargon.
Which means instead of coming off like a credible, trustable professional, you just sound like a guy on the internet begging for money.
And I get it.
I used to be dead sick with this disease. I had all the symptoms (the desperate ‘do you need a copywriter?’ and the saddening 15 follow ups to fitness creators)
I pretty much sounded like a reddit mod texting his only fans girl.
But now… you won’t even hear a peep borborygmus coming from my side. And yeah, part of that is because I actually don’t need clients.
I also know now, clients need us more than we need them (if you’re targeting the right people).
But the MAIN factor that helped shut up my borborygmus for good, was starting my daily newsletter.
When clients see you can run and write a daily newsletter, they just respect you more.
And, once you’ve actually earned money online, there’s a different aura to you that doesn’t scream borborygmus 24/7.
