I’m absolutely shit…

Look, I know a lot about copywriting, persuasion, etc. you know I know how to sell pretty fucking well, but it’s completely different on the phone.
Us copywriters like to say “copywriting is sales in text.” (and it is)
It’s different when you’ve actually got to call someone and pitch them in real life instead of having a jerk fest in my google doc.

Basically I’m on call with this big-shot business owner, I’m going through the script as normal, things are going good…
I’m even getting a few questions out of him….
but then things go sideways.
He asks me a question that kind of knocks me off my track.
Then another…
Then BOOM like the final punch in a boxing match
Like the punch where you see it and you just know that guy is fucked… The owner asks me a question
I stumble…
I stammer…
And go quiet for 5 (long-ass) seconds.
Now usually this is where the story would end. But he ends up stopping the call and we decide to continue it later.
then I (pretty much) crushed it.
yeah, I made a few mistakes but for the most part I knocked the new sales call out of the park.
Well…
Kinda.
It wasn’t an “actual” sales call.
It was with my mentor 😂
Thing is, you’re not going to get any chances in the real world.
One bad slip-up and you’re DONE… Millionaire (potentially billionaire) business owners don’t have time to listen to your shitty pitch.
If you’re shit, you’re shit… and you are not going to close clients.
Even worse:
You’ll scare em away - so all the outreach you’ve done to actually get them on a sales call means nothing if you’re good at sales.
