I was on this trip in the middle of Yosemite in some random hotel pool.
My dad dares me to go over and talk to some girl on the other side of the pool and after some reluctance arguing with him and my brother…
I do it.
I go over and talk to this chick way older than me anddd… we have a conversation.
That’s it. I didn’t get her number, and I didn’t talk to her again, in fact, I didn’t even see her ever again.
And that’s fine with random girls in the middle of nowhere, but it’s not fine in copywriting.
The reason I didn’t bag this girl is because I was being a bitch.
Anyone can go up to a girl, ask her where she’s from, say that’s nice and then after an awkward pause leave.
But what people can’t do is tell her she’s hot.
Or ask her for her number.
Or whatever is ideal for getting her in bed tonight. And you guys probably know that (copy john isn’t full with a bunch of incels, is it?)
But that’s not so obvious in copywriting.
Fkcking ANYONE can give a bunch of value, make a pretty design, and tell their “brand story..”
Almost no one can write a really good piece of direct response with a massive CTA. So the moral of the story is…
You can give value, and you can even write some DR, but you CANNOT skip the cta… the benefits… and the persuasion.
Because people who don’t like “selling” don’t get any pussy.
And by pussy i mean…
Perfectly. Undoable. Sales. Six-times-a. Year.
AKA sales.
