This is going to be very basic, but it will give you a general understanding.
Basically, what segments are are different groups of people on your email list/newsletter.
What I see a lot of people doing is one group for “Men” and one group for “Women.” There’s nothing wrong with this but most of the time it’s not really needed IN COMPARISON to other segments you could do.
Like for example, if you’re writing for a lead generation company…
Do you really need gender-differentiated segments?
No you don’t.
But if you’re writing for adult diapers, then maybe you might need genders.
I’m gonna make part 2 of this email tmr but one I saw which kinda made me made was a newsletter for a vet.
And I put my pet in as a dog… and they started sending me emails with cat pictures!
Segments based on pets would be better.
