An Email About The Wendy’s Baconator

that's it

Yo wendy’s lover?

Time to respond to another subscriber. (Ask yours here)

Please do an email about about the wendy's baconator “

💀💀💀

Alr bet.

When you think of a Baconator, do you think shocking?

No, but at the time it was bold.

People had never seen a burger with no veggies.

(Well, they had but no one ever marketed their burger as just meat.)

And that’s one of the reasons Wendy’s failed with this product…

Yes it was bold, “ohhhh just meat”

But how long does that stay interesting for?

Not long—the baconator was just another item on the menu…

until…

People started going healthy.

and after 3 promos…

17 years in progress…

And $200 million wasted…

was f*cked

And I don’t think you guys understand how much $200 mil really is…

So I’ll let chat gbt break it down:

————————————————————————————————————

If Wendy’s spent $200 million on Baconator marketing…

And assuming a standard ketchup packet costs about $0.03 (3 cents) to produce:

  • $200,000,000 ÷ $0.03 = ~6.67 billion ketchup packets

That’s:

  • Enough for ~20 ketchup packets per person in the U.S.

  • Or a 1,000-packet rainstorm over Times Square every day for 18 years

  • Or to drown one Baconator in ketchup 1.3 billion times (give or take your tolerance)

Moral of the story? They could’ve skipped the ads and just bribed the world in sauce.

————————————————————————————————————

Yeah, so what is the lesson learnt (different from moral of the story)
